Ghanaians Cautioned To Avoid Junk Foods!
A Clinical Nutritionist and the founder of Organic Kitchen and Natural Remedies Ms. Yvonne Bulley, has advised Ghanaians at large to desist from taking junk foods since it is detrimental to human health. She said the consumption of unhealthy foods has done a lot of harm, as it was sending people to their graves earlier than they were destined for.
According to her, some diseases like cancer, diabetes, stroke and others are generally a disease one can inflict his/ herself mostly by adopting unhealthy life style and eating of junk foods which are also known as ‘slow poisons’.
Ms. Bulley, made this remark when she was launching an Organic Kitchen and Natural Remedies Centre as part of effort to help sensitize the populace and also create an awareness on the essence of consuming natural foods rather than Western foods.
According to her, the country’s locally grown products have medicinal values that needed to be promoted but many have neglected it in the preference to Western junk foods which are detrimental to human health.
Ms. Bulley, also advised parents/guidance to have ample time for their wards especially when it boils to the selection of food for the children. This she said, feeding children with junk foods and over processed foods has the tendency of lowering their IQ .
More so she noted that taking poor diet during pregnancy increases the child’s risk of obesity , high blood ,? autism and attention deficit disorders. She has therefore called on all and sundry to desist from taking such foods in order? to reduce disease burden in the country.
The Deputy Minister of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation Hon. Bernice Adiko Heloo , on the other hand, commended Ms. Bully for coming out with such initiative; adding that the Organic Kitchen and Natural Remedies Centre, would help bring good health to the door step of Ghanaians.
She has therefore appealed to Ghanaians to stay away from junk and also develop positive characters towards personal hygiene in order to avoid the wide spread of cholera other diseases
